Barnardos Turua ELC
Barnardos Turua ELC, a centre dedicated to providing a happy and nurturing environment, partnered with Play’n’Learn for a comprehensive fit-out. The goal was to create a stimulating and empowering space that supports children’s unique learning journeys, while also expanding the centre’s capacity to better serve the local community.
Design Elements:
- Spacious and Light-filled Indoor Areas: Designed to offer room for reading, rest, and engaging indoor learning experiences.
- Functional Furniture: Custom-designed furniture that ensures safety, durability, and functionality. Each piece is crafted to support various learning activities and promote independence among children.
- Challenging and Exciting Outdoor Spaces: Outdoor areas designed to stimulate children’s imagination and provide opportunities for physical activity and exploration.
Play’n’Learn’s Scope:
- Spatial & Interior Design: Creating a cohesive and inspiring learning environment both indoors and outdoors.
- Custom Furniture Design: Specialised furniture tailored to meet the needs of infants and young children, including restreat spaces and a large discovery whare.
- Manufacture & Install: Full-service manufacturing and installation of furniture, fixtures, and equipment, ensuring a seamless transition to the new space.
- Education Environment Compliance: Ensuring all designs and installations meet the highest safety and compliance standards.
Outcome:
The project successfully transformed Barnardos Turua ELC into a vibrant and dynamic learning environment. The new fit-out not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also increases the centre’s capacity from 38 to around 55 babies and children. This expansion better serves the local whānau and the growing community in and around Turua, providing a space where children can thrive and learn in a supportive and engaging setting.
