The All-in-One EverPlay Tray is a single play solution for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Just like the EverPlay climbing range, it’s designed as a “one size fits all” system that adapts to different ages, developmental stages, and teaching needs.

Versatile Configurations

  • Preschoolers (2.5–5yrs):
Use the tray on its legs for a large round trough up to 20cm deep, with enough space for 8–10 children. Its slightly lower-than-standard height makes it easy for children to reach the centre, retrieve toys, and enjoy the fountain plug attachment.
  • Toddlers (18m–2.5yrs):
Flip the tray over to lower the trough height by 7.5cm, creating a shallower trough with a maximum 12cm depth that is safe and accessible for younger learners.
  • Infants (under 18m):
The lid can be placed directly on the ground for seated play. It works well as a shallow tray for water, sand, or messy play activities such as finger painting or gloop.
  • Extra messy play station:
Flip the lid upside down and place it on the tray to create additional surface space for messy play or group provocations.

Teacher-Friendly Design

  • Secure Lid: Locks into place with a child-proof catch, preventing animals, insects, or contamination overnight. Teachers can set up provocations in advance with confidence. The lid also allows trays with water to be left unsupervised without needing to be emptied each time. Children cannot open the lid, giving teachers more flexibility with setup and cleanup.
  • Drainage Options: Large plug for quick draining, plus a swappable fountain plug that connects to a hose for interactive water play.
  • Spanner Included: Tightens plugs so children can’t undo them and prevents plugs from getting lost. Saves teachers’ fingernails when loosening.
  • Durable & Practical: UV-resistant, weatherproof plastic with no rust and no sharp edges. Trays and lids are stackable for easy storage.

Benefits

  • Supports water play, sand play, messy play, and nature play in one resource
  • Encourages both group collaboration and individual exploration
  • Simple setup for teachers, adaptable for any age group
  • Safe, stable, and easy to clean

    Teacher Feedback Highlights

Real-world feedback from early learning centres shows how practical the PlayTray is for teachers:

    • Easy to move around the environment, lightweight when empty, and can be rolled on its side instead of lifted.

    • Easy to tip out water and simple to clean.

    • Versatile lid use – works as an additional tray or table surface.

    • Durable, thick plastic that lasts through heavy use outdoors.

    • Teachers value the flexibility across different ages, noting it works equally well for messy play, water setups, sandpit extensions, and even planting activities.

    Safety Guidance

The PlayTray is intended to be used only under direct supervision due to the risks of standing water and young children.

    • Water must be drained when not in use or unsupervised.

    • A supervision and management plan should explicitly note this advice as the key risk mitigation.

    • The PlayTray should never be used unsupervised if filled with water.

    1. Sue Wilson

The PlayTray is easy enough to move around — i can roll it on its side without much effort and it’s handy for setting up quick activities. That said, its really more suited to early years/before school age. For our 7-8 year olds it feels a bit small… one small note of caution too: if the lid is used on the ground, you need to make sure it’s upside down – sides facing up, otherwise i think it might crack. Great for younger learners and childcare, but not the right size for our primary school use.

      • Hadleigh Witty

Thanks Sue, the PlayTrays are designed for childcare & kindergarten use. New entrance/Y1 could utalise this however it’s not designed for 7-8yrs. Thanks for your feedback 🙂

We’ve had our PlayTray for years now and it has held up brilliantly!!! The plastic is thick and durable, so it has not cracked or faded even with daily use outdoors! It is also very easy to clean, a quick hose down and it is ready for the next activity. Our tamariki still love it!!
for water play, messy play, and sand, and the fact that it has lasted this long makes it excellent value for our centre.

    3. Mary Haig

upside down, upright, with the lid – so many uses! Lightweight and easy to move, even for teachers with back issues. Rolling it on its side makes setup so much easier…A bit heavy when full, but easy to roll or tip out. The trays last really well because they’re thick and durable.

We love our All-In-One Play tray. We use it for so many things. One way we use our tray is putting cocoa husks in the tray and the children use transparent containers to measure quantities. Sometimes we go on nature walks and find various leaves, pods, ferns (fallen on the ground) and other natural resources and we put these in the trough for the children to explore – we also add various dinosaurs to extend and further develop the children’s imagination and creativity. Putting gloop, slime or shaving foam in the trough allows the children to engage in a wonderful sensory experience. We put shells, seaweed and driftwood in our All-In-One Play Tray with some blue dye in the water and various plastic sea creatures and this provides the children with a wonderful creative play opportunity. In autumn the children enjoy going on bush walks and doing a leaf hunt. We put these leaves of various shapes, sizes and colours into the tray – we also find snails and the children explore the snails with magnifying glasses, we then return the snails safely to where we found them. In summer there is no better way for the children to cool down than to put water into the tray, the children love measuring the water, pouring and exploring the properties of sinking/floating. Ice is another great alternative – we sometimes freeze flowers, leaves or other natural resources into the ice to make then ice experience even more interesting. We pick herbs form our herb garden and the children are able to feel and smell the various herbs – this is a wonderful natural sensory experience We use our All-In-One Play Tray in so many ways and the possibilities are endless.

That’s a great activity idea, using ice – thank you for your feedback!

We have 2 at our centre. They’re easy to move around, and flipping one upside down is perfct when you only want a shallow amount of water.
